Leap Day William Is Coming to Town

Happy Leap Day! Don your blue and yellow and get ready to cry for candy.

Perhaps you are familiar with the story? Once every four years on Feb. 29, Leap Day William emerges from the Marianas Trench to trade candy for tears. Tradition calls for celebrants to wear blue and yellow clothing. Those who don't wear appropriate holiday attire risk getting poked in the eye and having their hair pulled for forgetting what clothes to wear (see video). Except in Boston, where, in addition to the Leap Day William parade and a citywide ice maze, tradition calls for people not wearing Leap Day colors to get stomped on the foot, kicked in the knee and reminded of how great the New England Patriots are.

Not ringing a bell?

What about the movie "Leap Day William" starring Jim Carrey as a man who learns the true meaning of Leap Day by becoming Leap Day William? Are you a Leap Day William fan on Facebook? No?

If Yahoo Answers is any indication, you are not alone.

"Never heard of him/her/it," wrote Funky Bird iz a CHICK.

Well, it's not too late for a Leap Day miracle.

You can find Leap Day William on Tumblr, you can learn more about him on Wikipedia or even follow @LeapDayWilliam on Twitter. Or you can check out the entire "30 Rock" episode featuring Leap Day William on NBC.com.

Time's a wastin'. Get out there and have some Leap Day fun. After all, as the saying goes, "It's Leap Day. Real life is for March."
