ALDI Opening May Be Pushed Back

Rain has caused construction delays.

Rainy weather may keep the new Dacula ALDI from opening in October 2013 as originally planned.

Rick Burgess of Kevin Price General Contractors said heavy rain has resulted in delays at the construction site. According to Burgess, the opening of the store may be pushed back to November as a result.

Burgess said crews have worked through downpours while erecting the steel frame, but construction has fallen slightly behind schedule. With more rain in the forecast, crews will likely face further weather-related interruptions over the next few days, Burgess explained.

ALDI spokesman Daniel Hernandez said though no definitive date has been set for the grand opening, the store will open by the end of the year.

The 16,399-square-foot store will be located on a 1.75-acre tract in The Shire development on Braselton Highway near Jim Moore Road. The grocery retailer is expected to employ 10-12 people.

ALDI currently operates nearby stores in Lawrenceville and Winder. Nationwide, the discount grocery chain has more than 1,200 locations in 32 states.
