Atlanta Woman Makes Forbes Billionaires List

Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, is the youngest, self-made woman to join the exclusive list.

Atlanta entrepreneur Sara Blakely is now part of a very exclusive club.

Forbes magazine has added the Spanx founder to its exclusive billionaires list. Blakely, 41, is the youngest, self-made woman to join this year's list, Forbes reports.

Blakely will appear on the March 26 cover of Forbes magazine. According to the Forbes article, Spanx nets an estimated 20 percent on revenue of approximately $250 million. Four Wall Street banks have valued the company, which began with Blakely's $5,000 investment, at an average of $1 billion.

According to the Spanx website, Blakely started the company after realizing she did not have the right undergarment to provide a blemish free look under a pair of white pants. From that moment, Blakely began her quest to create the perfect body shaping undergarments.

According to the Inquisitr, Blakely's Atlanta-based company now employs 125 people and offers more than 200 products featured in stores and boutiques in 40 countries.

Currently, Blakely owns 100 percent of Spanx, but the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports she is considering taking the company public due to extensive plans for international growth.
