Another business has failed to succeed in the challenging Dacula restaurant market.

Bolgheri Tuscan Pizza, located at 3517 Braselton Highway in Dacula, specialized in Italian cuisine. The restaurant, which had been opened approximately a year, was housed in the space previously occupied by Ippolito's, which closed in March of 2012, and Mellow Mushroom, which was owned and operated by the same family which now operates Dooley's Southern Stone Pizza Kitchen

The managing partners of Bolgheri -- Barry Lennon and Christopher Brogdon of J. Christopher's breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurants -- are currently working on future plans for the space.

According to Lennon, Bolgheri was closed because the concept did not work out as anticipated. The restaurant space is still under lease, however, and Lennon plans to open another restaurant in that space within the next few months.

"We're going to do something, but we don't know what," he said.

Bolgheri's closure follows a string of restaurant closures in the Dacula area including the Fish House Seafood Restaurant, Dos Copas, Wok Star, Heavenly Desserts and Cafe, Mirko PastaStadium Sports Bar, Burger and Shake, Froyolo and others.

I hate to see yet another restaurant go away, but I have to think that there is a "right" formula for success up here. This of course is a bedroom community full of young families, but on the other hand there is a large number of retirees who,(I would think), would enjoy going out to have a nice meal a couple times a week. (Deaton Creek, Chateau Elan, Reunion, & HM) Looking south of us there are a few restaurants making a good go of it - Bonefish, Teds, and now Cheesecake Factory. They all offer a "higher end" experience with nice appointments, experienced and well trained waitstaff, and of course a nice wide selection of menu offerings. We will miss the nice wine selection that Bolgheri offered...it was better than most. But they fell down in my opinion in other areas that are important to the diners experience. I wish them well and we will try the next restaurant in hopes it will be the right formula of success for all.

OMG it's a no brainer. MAKE IT ANOTHER J CHRISTOPHERS!! Just like broken egg did...(Another broken egg cafe). People will be lining up for it! J Christopher's is awesome and it's always PACKED. Come on guys- look around. We have waffle houses on every dang corner- NOTHING like J Christopher's or Broken egg. I think it would be a huge success!!

We need Outback Steak House up at Hamilton Mill
GEM January 08, 2014 at 10:17 AM
Clearly we need an IHop or Denny's ... Dash any hopes for a Houston's...After all we ended up with an Aldis instead of Fresh Market.
TroyD January 08, 2014 at 10:32 AM
J Christopher's makes sense to me.

Predicting this closure was a bit too easy.

I agree with you Troy and why in the world do we not have a fresh market or Whole foods??? I agree with you GEM! Aldis was a ridiculous thing to put in this area. I've never even stepped foot in one- and did you see the horse meat thing on the news? YUCK!!

A J. Christopher's would be a great addition to the area....we need a breakfast place in our community!!!!!

Whole Foods or 'whole wallet" and Fresh Market are ok if you have an unlimited budget. I give my vote to Trader Joes. Great natural and Organic products with great prices!
Lenee January 09, 2014 at 09:48 AM
I agree they are pricey- Trader Joes would be awesome too! And they have 2 buck chuck so everyone could still get their wine fix! Lol j/k
Janet January 12, 2014 at 10:49 AM
We really need a great breakfast/brunch place.....please!!!!!

That space is not big enough for a Trader Joes, or Whole Foods or whatever. I cannot believe the elitist attitude about Aldi's. It's a lovely store and packed everytime i drive by. I agree though that J Christophers would be a very welcome addition. Only went to Bulgheri once. Took my teens for pizza when it first opened. Service slow, pizza OK, prices way too high. Knew that one was a bust right away.

I agree about the negative attitude about Aldi. I have found there products to be very good and they also have organic choices. People do need to give them a chance. They are world wide . Actually I have heard that Aldi is somehow connected to Trader Joes, I think they are 2 brothers that started both stores. I would still like to see a Trader Joes somewhere around here.

Aldi's sux. Tried it once, won't ever go back. Nasty place with rotten produce.
Gale O'Neal January 14, 2014 at 12:04 PM
Looked up what a J. Christopher's was. Not a bad idea. But since you are under lease already, why not just make it your own Breakfast/Lunch restaurant. It would be so nice to have something CLOSER than the mall of ga to have a nice sit down breakfast place that was NOT A FAST FOOD place.
Michele Redmond January 17, 2014 at 08:45 AM
That location is like a black hole. Definitely need a "name" there to draw people in. I'd vote for a steakhouse--Longhorn's would be awesome--over anything else.
