Eating Sweet Treats at Menchie's Frozen Yogurt

Each week we feature a business from our hometown of Dacula. This week learn more about Menchie's Frozen Yogurt.

Rodd Seigel is the owner of shop, located at 2463 Hamilton Mill Parkway inside the Publix shopping center. Opened on Aug. 13 of this year, Menchie's offers a wide variety of frozen yogurt flavors and toppings to satisfy any sweet tooth. I recently sat down with Seigel to talk about the shop.

Patch: What is the best aspect of owning a frozen yogurt shop?

Rodd: To be honest with you everyone who comes in here has fun. They come in with a smile on their face and they leave with an even bigger smile. We're all about families and we're all about kids.

Patch: What is the most challenging aspect of owning Menchie's Frozen Yogurt?

Rodd: It's not so much of a challenge because we like to have fun but for almost everyone who works here this is their first job. So training them on the responsibilities of actually having a job, the responsibilities of showing up for work on time and actually fulfilling their responsibilities while they're here is a lot of work.

Patch: What makes Menchie's unique?

Rodd: I think just the concept of what we have is unique. There are a lot of frozen yogurt places out there but we are different. We have a lot more flavors than most places. We can pick from 150 different flavors and we change out at least one each week. We've also got around 50 different toppings for our yogurt and we rotate them as well. We are geared towards family and children. We also have a dedicated party room. Our staff has excellent customer service. We preach customer service and we go out of our way to teach it to our staff. I think overall our product is the best.

Patch: What makes the Dacula community special?

Rodd: I live in this community. My wife and I have lived here for 20 years. I've been wanting to open up a Menchie's here for a while and I've finally found a great location. We're ingrained in Dacula and that's why we want to be here.

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt is open Sunday through Thursday from noon until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon until 11 p.m. Menchie's has a private party room that can be reserved for any occasion.
