Gun Club Obtains Construction Permit, Groundbreaking to Take Place 'As Soon As Possible'

The Georgia Gun Club is expected to open in fall of 2013.

With a construction permit now in hand, Verne Fowler, owner of the new Georgia Gun Club, plans to have contractors on site "as soon as possible."

Fowler received the permit on May 7 and is ready to break ground on his new facility which will include a shooting range, an 8,000-square-foot retail store, a classroom, member’s lounge, gunsmith shop, simulator room and 28 indoor lanes. The facility is expected to open this fall.

Training manager Dave Brackett said the contractors have been selected and only a few details are left to be finalized.

"We should be breaking ground before long," he said. "I think we're good to go on all points."

In the meantime, the Georgia Gun Club continues to operate its temporary store at 1944 Braselton Highway, directly across the road from the site of the new range. Store hours, Brackett said, are from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
