Kroger Issues Recall for Specialty Cake

Recall affects stores in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.

Kroger has issued a recall in four states for select in-store made cakes.

The cake in question -- the cinnamon Mardis Gras King cake -- may have pecans not listed on the label. People with pecan allergies could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the product according to a Kroger Co. statement. For consumers with no allergies, there is no safety issue with this cake.

Customers who purchased the King Cake product between Dec. 30, 2012 and Feb. 4, 2013, should return the cake to the store for a full refund or replacement.
