Kroger Launching Fundraiser to Benefit Troops

Grocery chain is asking customers to round up purchases to the nearest dollar to benefit the United Service Organization (USO), military troops and their families.

From June 24 through July 7, Kroger will partner with the United Service Organization (USO) to "round up" support for U.S. troops and their families. Customers may round up their purchases to the nearest dollar with the excess change going to support the men and women of the United States armed services and their families.

Kroger will also provide postcards at each register which customers can use to write messages of encouragement. The postcards will be delivered to the USO for distribution to active troops.

“With 71 years of dedication and service to Americans, Kroger is proud to partner with an organization like the USO,” said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, in a released statement. “We encourage our customers to assist in whatever ways they can – either by participating in the ‘Round-Up’ or by filling out postcards – and help the USO continue to serve members of the military, wounded troops and their families.”
