New Restaurant Proposed for Hamilton Mill Road Location

The case goes before the planning commission on Oct. 1.

In October, a request to rezone a 1.65-acre tract on Hamilton Mill Road for the purpose of building a new fast food restaurant will go before the Gwinnett County Planning Commission.

Sadiq Pathrawala and Asfak Momin are seeking to rezone property near the intersection of Puckett's Mill Road and Hamilton Mill Road from RA-200 to C-1 in order to construct a Dairy Queen Grill and Chill. The applicants have also requested a special use permit for the project.

"It is our opinion that the zoning request is a good fit for the area, and the property has no real value in its current zoning," wrote Guy Abernathy of Ringo Abernathy & Associates in the rezoning application.

Abernathy who represents Pathrawala and Momin, acknowledged the current traffic issues at the intersection but notes: "Hamilton Mill Road is slated for some major road improvements (5-lane road section and realignment of the Puckett's Mill Road intersection)."

The rezoning case (RZC2013-00006) and the special use permit request (SUP2013-00043) are scheduled go before the planning commission on Oct. 1. The Gwinnett County Planning Commission meets at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC), 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville. The meeting will be held in the GJAC auditorium and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
