Pep Boys Proposed for Dacula Town Center

The auto repair and retail business would be located between Walgreens and KFC/Taco Bell on Dacula Road.

A public hearing is planned for July 3, 2013, in Dacula to consider a special use permit that would allow the construction of a Pep Boys automotive service center and retail shop on Dacula Road.

The 5,546-square-foot Pep Boys Auto Service and Tire Center and a 7,590-square-foot retail building would be located on a 1.35-acre parcel at 565 Dacula Road between the Walgreens and the KFC/Taco Bell.

According to the special use permit application filed with the City of Dacula, light duty automotive repair services including tune-ups, tire repair and installation, battery and fluid replacement, brake, exhaust and air conditioning repair, emissions testing, engine diagnostic and oil changes and repairs to shocks, struts and steering and suspension systems would be among the services offered.

The Pep Boys Auto Service and Tire Center would include six vehicle bays. The bays would not face Dacula Road according to planning documents. Site access will consist of four interparcel drives: two connecting to the Walgreen's parking area and two connecting to the KFC/Taco Bell parking areas.

Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks said the request was approved by the planning board and is consistent with existing commercial uses in the area.

The request will go before the Dacula City Council on Wednesday, July 3 at 7 p.m.  A public hearing will be held prior to the vote. The council meeting and public hearing will take place at Dacula City Hall, 442 Harbins Road in Dacula.
