Something for Everyone at Dacula Family Sports

Each week we feature a business from our hometown of Dacula. This week, learn more about Dacula Family Sports.

Bobby Stone and his wife opened the doors to in 2004. Located at 144 Broad St., across the street from , the 16,000-square-foot facility offers numerous types of classes including martial arts, gymnastics, dance and music as well as camps throughout the year. I sat down with Stone and asked him about his business.

Patch: What is the best part about owning Dacula Family Sports?

Bobby: Just being involved in the community I think is one of the highlights of owning Dacula Family Sports. That and doing what I love to do. What we do in our teaching philosophy is try to develop integrity at the same time as we cultivate skills.  When you get out into the community your integrity and the life skills that you learn are more important than the skills that teach you how to kick, flip or dance. If you have all of those other skills that are required to do the sport then you will be much further ahead in life just from what we do here.

Patch: What is the most challenging aspect of owning Dacula Family Sports?

Bobby: I think the challenging thing over the past couple of year has been the economy. But we have managed to come through it just fine.

Patch: What is unique about Dacula Family Sports?

Bobby: The most unique thing about our business is that we house everything under one roof. We do gymnastics, cheerleading, dance, martial arts and a massive after school program so we're kind of a one stop shop. There's no one that does what we do. Also our after school program is the only fitness based program that is licensed by the state.

Patch: What makes the Dacula community special?

Bobby: I think it's one of those places that you still think about when you think about communities. It truly is a lot of families getting together, everybody seems to know everybody. It's still a very small town feel even though we're right next to Atlanta which is a metropolitan area. But that's why I like it.

Dacula Family Sports is open Monday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
