Top Ten Ways To Tell If You Are In Debt Trouble

There are many early warning signs that you are in debt trouble.  Some are obvious-You vehicle has been repossessed because you did not make all of your payments, or you have received collection or foreclosure notices.

But there are many more subtle warning signs:

1.  Are you paying only the minimum payments on your credit cards?  It can take 25-30 years or more if you pay only the minimums.  Just look at your last credit card statement-it shows how long you will have to pay if you make only the minimum payments.

2.  Have you financed a vehicle for more than 48 months so you can afford the monthly payment?

3.  Do you and your significant other fight about money?

4.  Have you pawned your car title or other property to get cash?

5.  Do you live "paycheck to paycheck"?

6.  Are your debt problems causing you excessive stress, sleepless nights, problems at work, problems in your relationships, or negatively affecting your health?

7.  Are you borrowing money from family and friends to pay bills?

8.  Are you taking money out of your retirement account to pay bills?

9.  Do you or your close family think you are in debt trouble?
