Deceased Pet Care Now Offering a Pet Loss Support Group

Losing a pet can be extremely difficult, and it’s not something you have to go through alone. Join Deceased Pet Care and our Pet Loss Counselor for a Pet Loss Support Group.

For many pet lovers, losing a pet is like losing a best friend, a family member, and a trusted companion all at once. When that loss occurs, many are left with grief and other emotions that can be overwhelming, not knowing what to do or say to move forward, or what to say to others in a similar predicament. Deceased Pet Care has partnered with Jennifer Wilmoth, a pet loss counselor, to help you through these emotions and the grieving process.

In her career and education, Jennifer has worked to help families through many trying situations, including the loss of a pet. Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina, and then moved to Atlanta, where she completed her Masters of Family Therapy degree from Mercer University School of Medicine.  She is now a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) with Grow Counseling in Buckhead and Gwinnett and has spent a number of years providing family counseling services to others, including grief therapy and recovery.  She truly understands that times of loss can provide tremendous opportunity for growth.  As an avid pet lover and mom to her furry four-legged family member, Molly, Jennifer knows the important role pets play in our daily lives and the bond shared.

Deceased Pet Care Funeral Homes’ new Pet Loss Support Group, will be held on the first Tuesday of each month beginning June 5, 2012, from 7:30 pm — 8:30 pm.  The meeting will be held in the Community Room on the second floor of the Chamblee Funeral Home at 4991 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, Georgia, 30341. Come and share your story, or just listen and receive support from others who understand what it means to lose a pet.  We will explore the grief process and learn ways to let go and move forward in a meaningful way that pays tribute to your beloved pet.  Together we can get through the grieving process and start the recovery process.

Questions regarding the Pet Loss Support Group may be directed to Deceased Pet Care Funeral Homes at 770-457-7659.

Cyndi I'm so glad to see you posting here on Patch. My wife & I have been clients of DPC for many years, long before the new building. Being very active in dog rescue we sometimes animals that, due to health reasons, don't get to stay with us as long as we'd like.
The staff at DCP has ALWAYS provided professional and compassionate care at a fair price. Thank you for all you do.

Unfortunately I had to use Deceased Pet Care's services back in February. As hard as it was emotionally, they really made the whole process easy. They were so kind and compassionate. When I went to pick up my sweet Macy's remains I started crying, and I mean c-r-y-i-n-g, I thought the employee there helping me was going to burst into tears also. Bottom line, when the time comes for this type of service, DPC is the best in my book.

Jennifer...I'm glad you had a good experience in a tough situation. We had a dog we got the day before I started 6th grade and he lived over 16 years. Drank a lot of water that day. Needed to.

In 1963 I was 14 and somehow landed a job mowing the lawn and doing other things for a prominentRead More local surgeon who had a 10 acre estate. They had a riding lawn mower and I was game to do anything that involved gas engines! It was a 2 mile bike ride there and I could work whenever I wanted and they paid me 50 cents an hour, so I was bringing home six or seven dollars a WEEK!!!

Hate to say it, but I'm unimpressed with the new format. I know I'm in the minority, but the siteRead More seems pretty lame to me now.

Hi Ed - What don't you like? Is there anything about the redesign you do like? Also, please let ourRead More engineers/product people know by clicking on the green "Feedback" flag on the right side of the page. They do take feedback into consideration for future versions of the site. This design is very different from the Alpha version they began rolling out last year. They listened to feedback and made several changes, so feedback really does matter.

"There are people in all levels of government office who would like nothing more than to beRead More able to conduct all the public business out of public view" The problem is, who's going to stop them? Certainly--no one from this justice department who is complicit in multiple overreaches and coverups.

I wrote this on another post but it so applies here and is worth repeating: James Madison wrote inRead More the federalist paper (no. 51) concerning the separation of powers and need for limited government , "“ It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government……” We need to have a "Madison moment"...
