10-1-11: A Magical Numbers Day?

I have always thought that numbers play an important part in our lives.  I have had a watchful eye about the way numbers and dates play out in my life since I was a young girl. Maybe its because my Mother was born on 1-2-34. When I first realized her birthday was a one-of-a-kind date, once every hundred years, I made it a point to pay attention to dates and events. Let’s face it, if you’ve got to choose a day to be born on, 1-2-34 takes the cake. That date will never come again nor will a woman of my Mother’s wisdom, strength, or faith ever come this way again.  

Numbers have always played games with me.  Math hated me in school and I in turn hated math right back.  Numbers always flipped and turned around at school when I was studying or taking a test. Today there is a word for this issue but, back in my day, they called it an “F” on a math test.  

Math and numbers can also be seen as  awesome. To me there are the perfect days to be married like; 9-9-99 or 10-10-10 or the upcoming 11-11-11. Even thugs realize the importance of numbers as in 9/11. I do not believe in the study of numerology, yet I still wonder about those days when everything seems to line up in the excellent column in my life on a special number day.  When I have a day of glorious joy, I will look at the calendar and there it is, a magical number day date!  It is a simple thing but it does seem to work for me. 

Numerology is the study of purported mystical relationship between a count of a measurement and life.  Numerology and numerological divination by systems were popular among early mathematicians such as Pythagoras but are no longer seen that way by modern day scientist yet, there is just something about numbers that gets me thinking about special dates. 

Some days it is as if the entire universe opens it’s heart and showed you all is right with the world. Oct. 1 was such a day for me. Oct. 1, 10-1-11, was a magical number day with numerous events that went into making it  such a day for me!   Sometimes, when I have a “magical numbers day,” I feel like the universe is smiling on me. Most times I know it is just God saying, “Hi Cindy!!!”  

I was up early to meet with a stranger. To say, ‘Charity Begins At Home” is perfect because she was holding a yard sale and selling off a model home’s items. All the proceeds went to the Wounded Warrior Project. When people give their time to help others, without a paycheck for encouragement, they are singing my song.   When a company does it, I call that awesome. Most yard sale goers know that coins are the expected exchange for a bargain at a yard sale, yet yesterday buyers spent hundreds of dollars at this yard sale! My smile was as warm as the day. It was another wonderful event on a magical number day! 10-1-11

Next, on to a birthday party of my first nephew! This child has a smile of the angels. He is loved purely, wholly, and with zest. He makes you laugh loudly when he does his booty dance. His eyes sparkle when he sees his Grannie. His tiny pure heart is ready for the amazing life that is before him. Balloons bobbing, cameras clicking, and four generations filled the party room. I sat quietly in the corner comfy circular chair with my mother in the room that was so thick with goodness that you could have painted an image of love with it.  I did not know half the attendees yet, that did not matter for they loved the birthday child as much as I did. It was another magical event in a magical number day. 10-1-11

Next, on to a family dinner with sister’s laughing as they chop the lettuce, the family grilling chef asking, “ Who wants their’s medium?” and the cousins getting to know the possible new in-law. How can it be that they traveled here from three states to share in a meal of celebration? The business of family has made me realize how blessed I am to have such a strong family. We known the history of each other and take strength in each other’s successes. When one is in pain, we all feel sorrow and when one wins, we all win. Another magical event in a magical number day event. 10-1-11

Now, off to the Miss Mill Creek Pageant with young women of excellence. The contestants, in their elegant gowns, wafted across the stage with their confidence and strength. I was taken aback by their years of excellent grades, their hours of service to their community, and their pride for their peers and their school. The cheers from the audience for each and every girl showed a giving community, a witness to the mature understanding that each girl is so beautiful and absolutely unique in her own way. Excitement, entertaining, and elation best describes this magical event on a magical number night! 10-1-11 

Finally, a quiet reflective late night snack with a dear friend. As we shared in each other’s life, we lay bare the truth we each feel about our children and our personal needs. True friends are rare. Great friends are a gift from our own ability to open our hearts to others. Sharing special events with them renew our very being.  Another magical event in a magical number night. 10-1-11  

So what was it about 10-1-11?  Was it really a magical number night?  Did the fact that this night first two numbers added up the to the last number hold some magical power for me? Maybe not, but I choose to hold to the fact that each day can be a magical number day if we know but what to do with it.
