Call Me A Pansy!
Yeah! Fall is on the way! New flowers, new colors and cool cool temps!
So what is up with calling someone a pansy as an insult? The pansies that I know are tough and rugged. They bloom in winter when all those other 'pansies' have surrendered to the cold of winter. They even bloom with snow on their sweet bloomin' heads. Pansies come in such a wide array of colors that even the most picky color freak can find the exact combination that makes them happy.
And don't even get me started on the 'shrinking violet' insult. They are the blommingist diminutive grandparent you have ever seen. They can be put in pots and in the shade or sun. How is that for 'shrinking' huh?
Mid September is the ideal time to put these monstrously marvelous merry maids into the ground. Get rid of those tired, sad, badly abused by summer annuals and give yourself a happy smile boost every time you walk out of your door.

So please call me a pansy or shrinking violet any day of the week! You have given me the happiest compliment (well you could call me a rose and I would be equally happy, but I don't smell as sweet especially at the end of a summer day working in the nursery!)
