Around the Region: Baby Orphaned in Fatal Crash, Apologetic Robber Escapes and Ramen Noodle Soup Prompts Fight

The couple killed in  on Knox Bridge Highway have been identified as Rick Dean Headen, 48, of Sour Lake, Texas and Charlotte Ann Sedtal, 40, also of Sour Lake. The couple were the parents of a 2-month-old infant that sustained a broken leg and brain injury in the accident.

Headen, Sedtal and their baby boy were "apparently just passing through, on their way to another state," when their Ford Focus, which was headed eastbound, crossed the center line and struck a red Dodge pickup truck that was headed westbound.

Headen and Sedtal died at the scene.

The baby, who has not been identified, remains at , which is in Sandy Springs.

Two teens—reported to police because they were driving around a Cartersville neighborhood, making frequent stops in driveways, and walking through the woods with flashlights—said they were trying to find a man who had pointed a gun at them and demanded money.

Citing adrenaline, the 17- and 19-year-old men said they did not call 911 after the robber, to whom they provided a ride, asked their names, shook their hands and apologized before putting a gun to one's head and pointing it at the other before demanding money.

A pair of oncoming headlights and one of the teens' remark, "Look, there's the cops," sent the armed robber fleeing into nearby woods. The teens, who said they had no money to give the gunman, pursued the man in the area of Greystone Lane, both on foot and by car, but lost sight of him.

Deputies say a cup of noodle soup was the source of a heated argument between two adult brothers on Wednesday that landed one of the men in jail on a charge of simple assault.

It happened at a Barnett Shoals Road home about 4 p.m. on Feb. 1.  Deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance call and arrived to find one of the brothers leaving the scene.  According to an incident report, the man said he was afraid of his brother because he has been assaulted by him on multiple occasions.  

After speaking with the mother who witnessed the incident, "it was determined that a cup of Ramen Noodles was the source of the argument," a deputy noted in the report, adding that one brother had been upset because the other had eaten the flavor of soup he had wanted.

After determining who they believed to be the aggressor in the situation, deputies arrested the 22-year-old brother on one charge of simple assault.  Bond was set at $1,500.
