A look at top Patch stories from around the metro area.

Alpharetta-Milton Patch

An officer responded to a call on Sandringham Drive involving an altercation between two individuals and a cat. At approximately 1 a.m. on Dec. 4 a man stated that he and his girlfriend had been attacked by a cat when they returned home from a local bar.

Apparently the girlfriend saw the cat and picked it up, the cat became agitated and scratched the girl on her right forearm. The man then grabbed an oven mitten from inside the apartment but the cat bit through the oven mitt leaving bite marks on his right thumb. The man then threw the cat from the third floor balcony into the parking lot and called 911.

Norcross Patch

In a series of armed robberies in Gwinnett County and the City of Norcross, officers were able to narrow down the suspects by calling a victim’s cell phone.

According to a Norcross Police report, a taxi driver reported to police that he had been robbed at gunpoint at the Red Roof Inn located at 5171 Brook Hollow Parkway.

The taxi driver stated to police that he originally picked up two males near Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth and upon arrival at the Red Roof Inn one of the passengers poked him in the face with a black, large handgun and demanded money and personal items. The armed suspect took $350 cash, an iPhone, a Blackberry, car keys and the victim’s wallet.

The suspects were narrowed down by a lead the victim provided by tracking his stolen cell phone to a location on Amberly Drive. The victim was with police officers when he called his stolen phone and the suspects were in the custody of another officer when the phone rang. The suspects were taken to Gwinnett County Police Headquarters for questioning.
