Around the Region: Confessed Child Murderer Found Dead, Jewelry Heist Foiled and SOPA Stalled

Maintenance worker who admitted killing a 7-year-old Canton child was found dead in his jail cell of an apparent suicide.

Ryan Brunn, , is dead.

"Ryan Brunn was found unresponsive in his cell at 4:15 p.m.," Georgia Department of Corrections spokeswoman Kristen Stancil said in a statement. "He was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 5:37 p.m. of an apparent suicide."

This case has been referred to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, she said.

It was just this past Tuesday that  as part of an extraordinary deal that included a detailed confession before a packed courtroom and a sentence of life without parole.

– Douglasville Patch

Denikko Becton, 20, of College Park, was arrested by the  after attempting to rob a Douglasville jewelry store Wednesday afternoon.

An alert resident noticed Becton enter the jewelry store on after putting on a hat with fake hair. The resident called 911 and an officer stopped Bectin while he was in the jewelry store.

A Douglasville Patrol officer arrived at the jewelry store four minutes later.

Becton was arrested before he had a chance to reveal the realistic-looking pellet gun he was carrying. Becton was charged with armed robbery, possession of tools to commit a crime and theft by taking.

As Wikipedia and other websites observed a 24-hour blackout on Wednesday, Congressional phone lines and inboxes began lighting up and filling up. 

Members of the U.S. House and Senate got the message about controversial anti-piracy legislation that appears to be stalled for now. 

Rep. Tom Price (R-Roswell), who represents East Cobb, Cherokee, north Fulton, Vinings and Dunwoody and is the House Republican Policy Committee Chairman, admitted the bills are bottled up for now: 

"There is real confusion about it, number one, but number two, there are real concerns about whether or not it would it would shutdown the ability of entrepreneurs, new businesses and the like to utilize the Internet for their purposes."
