Around the Region: Goth Teens Charged in Mill Fire, Woman Finds Burglar in Bedroom and Commercial Filmed in Gwinnett Subdivision

A look at top Patch stories from around Georgia.

– Douglasville Patch

Jeromie Hand, 17 of Douglasville, and Adrian Bond, 18 of Shelbyville, TN, have been arrested and charged with arson and several other charges in connection with the burning of the General Western Cotton Mill on May 12,  Phil Miller said in a press conference this afternoon.

Terry Carringer, 18 of Hiram, and Christopher Roberts, 20 of Douglasville, will face the same charges, including interference with government property, criminal damage to property and burglary, as soon as they are arrested.

The four kids, described as goth, were using aerosol cans to get high in the building and lit several fires which lead to the eventual destruction of the mill.

– Cartersville Patch

A Cartersville woman awoke Monday to a noise caused by an alleged burglar riffling through her bed table drawers, according to a  report.

Stephanie Jane Papapetrou, 31, was detained by the victim and two other women until authorities arrived.

Authorities found several bags containing clothing, electronics and medication in the garage and outside a doorway. In all, the property belonging to the residents was valued at more than $4,500.

Papapetrou also allegedly broke into a car in the garage. She was charged with burglary and auto burglary and held to again bond on previous charges.

– Peachtree Corners Patch

Instead of a wind-down day before the long Memorial Day weekend, a Peachtree Corners neighborhood was filled with actors, cameras and directors preparing to shoot a TV commercial.

The neighbors took it in stride, enjoying the moment as they watched the street crawling with some 35 film crew setting up cameras and props while some 15 actors waited in the shade nearby until they were called.

The commercials are being shot for an Alabama-chain of restaurants called Jack's Family Restaurants, so it's not likely anyone in the metro area will get a glimpse of the Avocet neighborhood on TV.
