Lilburn police were able to identify Rowan as the suspect because a courtesy officer who lives in the complex had seen and talked to him soon after two girls reported the incident to the office manager, according to a police report. Rowan fled from the officer on foot, leaving his SUV behind.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a Nov. 9 accident in Cartersville that left a motorcyclist dead.

Authorities have not released the motorcyclist’s identity pending notification of kin. Lt. Mark Camp of the Cartersville Police Department said the motorist had no identification with him at the time of the accident.

According to police, an officer noticed the motorcycle at about 1:45 p.m. and attempted to stop it, but the motorcyclist fled. The officer soon determined it was unsafe to continue and terminated the pursuit due to the motorcycle's high rate of speed. The motorcyclist ran a stop sign and crashed a short distance later.
