Around the Region: John Deere Tractor Struck by Pickup, Lawmaker Victim of Car Break-in and Detectives Pursue Leads in Shooting

A collision between a pickup truck and a John Deere tractor Tuesday morning in Walton County sent the tractor driver to the hospital with a head injury and caused a secondary three-car wreck when a vehicle hit the rear of a car stopped in traffic and knocked it into another vehicle.

According to Gordy Wright, public information officer for Georgia State Patrol, the John Deere tractor was traveling east on 138 when it was hit by a pick-up truck. There were no injuries in the second crash.

State Rep. Scott Holcomb (D-82) is the most recent victim of centered around the Henderson Mill area.

Holcomb, who lives with his family in the area, said he was home when he heard a noise this morning and went to investigate. He found the passenger front window broken, continuing a pattern seen in some of the other break-ins. The unknown suspect had taken some electronics from his glove compartment and a DVD player from under the back seat that the family used to entertain their kids on car trips.

– Dunwoody Patch

Detectives are following leads in the Dec. 26 shooting of a man outside a Dunwoody apartment.

Police have not yet released a motive, but it "appears to not be a random shooting," according to Dunwoody police spokesman Sgt. Michael Carlson.

The victim was 32-year-old Ivan Perez, shot at 3:43 p.m. as he was walking through the located at 100 Ashford Gables Drive. Perez was transported to Grady Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
