Man Who Spent 29 Years Evading Capture Dies in Custody - Douglasville Patch

A 70-year-old man who spent the last 29 years evading law enforcement officials on child molestation and incest charges, died in custody Tuesday morning, according to Douglas County District Attorney David McDade.

Charles Leon Parker, a sexual predator indicted in January 1983 on three counts of child molestation and two counts of incest, died in a medical correctional facility in South Carolina, eight months after being taken into custody by authorities. The facility was housing Parker while he was awaiting trial in Douglas County.

Sheriff's Office Investigating Death of Baby - Canton-Sixes Patch

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a baby in a Cherokee County home Monday morning.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker confirmed that deputies are investigating the circumstances that lead to the baby's death. An autopsy and toxicology screen will be performed on the baby today.

"Hopefully the autopsy will give detectives  more clues into the death of the child," Lt. Baker wrote in an e-mail to Patch.

Buckhead Church Pastor to Deliver Benediction at Obama Inauguration - Buckhead Patch

The pastor of a church that meets in Buckhead will deliver the benediction at President Barack Obama's inauguration this year.

Rev. Louie Giglio's Passion City Church, which meets at 515 Garson Drive, has hosted an event for the last few years that's drawn about 20,000 young people to the Georgia Dome in its first year and 60,000 just last week at this year's event.

Giglio, along with others like award-winning Christian musician Chris Tomlin, started the church just four years ago.
