Around the Region: Man Fires AR-15 During Domestic Dispute, Business Owner Assaulted and Marietta Man Nets Large Lottery Prize

 deputies say one of the people involved in a Tuesday domestic dispute fired in their direction numerous rounds from an automatic weapon.

According to the incident report, police responded to the Adairsville home about 10 p.m. after a verbal fight between a man and his girlfriend made the girlfriend’s brother, James Mark Agan, 56, angry. All three were intoxicated.

As the boyfriend, who said he feared for his life, gathered his things to leave his home for the night, deputies heard 10 to 20 shots from a high-powered rifle originate from the home, about 100 yards away, the report said. Police later found a Rock River Arms AR-15 on top of a washer and dryer in the home and 19 spent .223 rounds in the front yard.

Agan was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.

– Cumming Patch

Authorities are investigating what appears to be an assault on the owner of Horizon Safety Group located at 332 Dahlonega Highway in Cumming.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"Someone came in and pushed him down from behind and I guess he hit his head and when he woke up they were gone," said Sgt. Bryan Zimbardi with the .

Zimbardi said the wife found her husband on the floor and that nothing from the business was missing.

It is unknown at this time if there were one or more intruders.

The man, whose name has not been released, was treated and taken to Forsyth with minor, non-traumatic injuries, according to Capt. Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department.

 

– Marietta Patch

An East Cobb convenience store recently sold a winning lottery ticket that netted a Marietta man a $743,000 prize.

Con Burgener matched all five winning numbers in the Feb. 23 Fantasy 5 drawing and claimed his prize Tuesday.

He bought the ticket at the CITGO Food Mart, located at 4360 Roswell Road.
