A mother was arrested Tuesday near Savannah after more than two years on the run from charges of selling her daughters for sex in Cobb County.

Jeanifer Lee Segrest, 37, was caught in Port Wentworth, thanks to a tip from someone who saw her case on America’s Most Wanted, which profiled her Dec. 16, the U.S. Marshals Serviceannounced.

Segrest is accused of taking at least $30,000 in return for allowing a pedophile to repeatedly molest her two daughters, starting when they were 5 and 6 years old, the Marshals Service said.

– Cumming Patch

A raging fire destroyed U.S. Auto Sales on Atlanta Road (Highway 9) in Cumming Sunday afternoon, producing a cloud of black smoke that could be seen across Georgia 400 between exits 14 and 15.

No one was injured in the fire, according to Battalion Chief Jimmy Hildebrand of the . It is unknown when the fire was first reported, but Cumming Patch was on the scene shortly after 1 p.m. At that time flames were consuming the structure and when firefighters had the blaze under control, at least 14 vehicles were destroyed.

 

– Cartersville Patch

A man stabbed multiple times Sunday during what authorities called a home invasion-style robbery has died.

James David Ayers, 70, who allegedly was attacked in his Cartersville home near a Highway 41 flea market and  business, died Thursday at an area hospital.

Herbert Eberhardt Drews, 48, a  resident is accused of during a robbery.

Authorities say in addition to armed robbery, burglary and aggravated battery, Drews also has been charged with murder.
