Jorelys Rivera murder suspect remains in isolation in the after his attorneys did not ask for bond during his first court appearance today.

Court-appointed lawyers Daran Burns and David Cannon told Judge Frank Mills they did not have enough time to review the case and prepare a bond motion after getting Brunn as a client at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

earlier that day in the brutal killing of Jorelys, a 7-year-old first-grader who disappeared from the apartment complex Friday.

Her body was found in a Dumpster at the complex Monday. She had been sexually assaulted, stabbed and beaten.

– Douglasville Patch

The has issued an arrest warrant for 51-year-old Shirley Barker McManners of Douglasville.

She will be charged with vehicular homicide in the death of 17-year-old junior Brandy Hart, who was hit by McManners' car right after she got off a school bus Tuesday night.

The accident happened at Dorris Road off Cedar Mountain Road at approximately 7:19 p.m., Miller said. "Either she didn't see the bus' stop sign, or she ran it," he said. "She struck the 17-year-old as she was crossing the street and unfortunately killed her."

The student was taken to Wellstar Douglas where she died, according to a news release from the Georgia State Patrol.

 

– Barrow Patch

A Winder resident was arrested Dec. 4 after reportedly cutting two people with a sharp object.

Magdoline Barnes Little, 59, of 201 Dreamland Court, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery after two individuals reported being assaulted by the Winder resident at her home.

A female victim reported being cut her on her face next to her right eye, her right ear, the right side of her neck and on her right arm in the area of her elbow when she arrived at Little’s home to pick up her boyfriend, the male victim, who said he had been visiting Little, with whom he had a prior relationship.

The man had been cut on the left side of his face behind his left ear almost to his mouth.
