Boot Drive Ends Saturday

The 21st Annual "Give Burns the Boot" fundraiser ends this weekend.

During the month of May, more than 100 fire departments across the state have participated in the 21st Annual “Give Burns the Boot” boot drive. During the drive, Gwinnett County firefighters have been collecting donations for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

This Saturday, May 21, is the last day for the drive. Firefighters will be collecting donations and distributing fire safety education materials at shopping centers throughout Gwinnett County.

Donations are used to help citizens and firefighters who have suffered a severe burn injury. Ten percent of the proceeds are returned to the department in the form of smoke alarms and educational materials used to support fire and life safety programs within the community. Last year, Gwinnett residents donated nearly $35,000.
