Bull Wrestling, Dismembered Torso and Jail House Dog

A look at a few of the top stories this week on Dacula Patch.

Everyone knows that drinking and driving do not mix. I think it is safe to say drinking and bull wrestling might not be the best idea either. Alcohol can make people do strange things and I suppose this fell in the “it seemed like a good idea at the time” category, but this guy is lucky he did not get hurt. Drinking and bull wrestling -- don’t do it.

In light of the recent news about in the area, you have to wonder if this murder/dismemberment is somehow related. Police do not yet know exactly how the man died. Hopefully the dismemberment was post-mortem and not the actual cause of death. Regardless, this was an extremely brutal crime and a sobering reminder that not everyone you may see or meet in your daily travels is a fine, upstanding citizen. There are some dangerous people out there folks.

When I first saw a picture of Brauny a few months ago, I was deeply saddened. I simply do not understand how anyone can abuse a poor, helpless animal. That is why I was so pleased to see Brauny in a recent webisode of “Jail Dogs in 1C.” He looks so much happier and healthier. It is truly wonderful that Sheriff Butch Conway, the Society of Human Friends of Georgia, Operation Second Chance and Jail Dogs are working to give abused and neglected animals a second chance at a happy life.

It was truly a pleasure speaking with Heather Bonner regarding her recent appearance on “Wheel of Fortune.” It is always nice to talk to someone who is genuinely excited and passionate about a subject and Bonner is definitely that when it comes to her favorite game show. Bonner gave an excellent description of the whole process and I hope you find her account as interesting as I did.

You may remember a story from last year about the This is a club where students voluntarily run and run and run. I’m not a runner, but these children clearly enjoy what they do. The Dacula Dash is a fundraiser to help support the club and promote physical activity for students, their families and the Dacula community. It looks like a great event.
