Charlyne Fuller: Serving the Citizens of Dacula

Learn more about the secretary and customer service representative for the City of Dacula.

Name: Charlyne Fuller

Occupation: Secretary/Customer Service Representative for the

How did you get started in your occupation? I have been living in Dacula my whole life. I was a hair stylist at one time and later became a substitute teacher. While I was working as a substitute teacher, I was contacted by city personnel, who asked me if I’d like to work here as the office clerk. I’ve been working here for nearly 30 years now.

What is the most rewarding aspect of what you do? I really enjoy customers and the people. I never know who is going to come in, or call, or what problems they’ll have. You don’t know each day what you’ll have to deal with. But I get to talk with people and sort out their problems, and that’s a satisfying job.

What is the most challenging aspect? The most challenging aspect is trying to help people with their problems because there are many different issues that people call the City of Dacula to help with. It feels good to be able to help people though.

What advice do you have for anyone who would like to pursue this occupation? I have been living in Dacula for a long time, and that has helped me with this job. I still live on the same street I was raised on, and you need to know a lot about the town for this position. I do a little bit of everything as a secretary, including meeting and greeting people coming into town and giving directions. You need to be friendly and enjoy helping people, as well as good with office work.

What is your favorite thing about living in Dacula? The small town atmosphere. It’s small enough so you know a lot of people, and even though it has grown and changed, the town is still friendly. It’s good to have stores now too. We used to not have a grocery store, and we had to go to Winder or Auburn to buy groceries. So I’m thankful for the commercial development. Dacula has a special meaning for me, having lived here since I was little, and I’m glad to work with the city. I’d rather live here than in any other place.

What is your personal motto? A smile on your face and a song in your heart. Every day is a new day.

Ms Charlyne is and always has been such a wonderful asset to our city. Her face is always wearing a smile even when you have a problem you want help with. She is the first person you come in contact with, at City Hall, when needing information about Dacula . When Ms Charlyne answers the phone you know you are in good hands. She is always quick to say a friendly "HELLO!" when she see you around town. Smart, qualified, tactful, and knowledgable Charlyne keeps our city moving forward!

Have known Charlyne since I first moved here from Florida almost 20 yrs ago. I remember the first time I walked into the city hall, something to do with getting the water cut on or something, and she was just as friendly as if she had known me all her life. i remember talking with her about the old Frank's Jamboree downtown! Not often in this life is it a pleasure to walk into a govt bldg of any type and get such a warm reception! Dacula is lucky to have Charlyne and I have enjoyed each and every conversation I've ever had with this lovely lady! God Bless you Charlyne! Dacula loves ya!!
