Church News: Camps, Senior Events, Bike Rodeos, Kindergarten and More

A look at events scheduled during the upcoming week for churches in and around Dacula.

SUNDAY, JULY 10

It’s Day with the Gwinnett Braves. Game time is at 2:05 p.m. when the G Braves take on the Charlotte Knights. Don’t forget to donate to the pre-game food drive and plan on staying after the game to let the kids run the bases and catch in the outfield.

For those who have suffered a recent loss, grief share group offers support. The group meets on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. in modular room A-1.

 

MONDAY, JULY 11

The is offering children ages 8-18 the opportunity to attend a music and drama camp July 11-15. This camp will include music and drama classes, music games, a camp choir and musical, guest artist performances and a Saturday camp concert and hot dog fellowship.

 

h has partnered with Upward Sports Ministries and is offering cheer camp this week July 11-15. This camp is for children ages rising Pre-K through rising 5th graders. Cost to attend is $105 per child. For more information contact Cathy Farnie via email or at 770-842-9171.

 

Don't miss vacation bible school at VBS is running this week and following the theme PandaMania.

 

The senior adults at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church are holding their monthly fellowship today with a BYO covered dish lunch. Guest speakers will be present to talk about AARP Driver's Education and the History of Gwinnett County.

 

Teens are invited to attend this recovery ministry group for teens and students dealing with life's hurts and addictions. Group meets at 6:45 p.m. in D210 at

 

Are you dealing with life's habit, hurts or hang ups?  Join Celebrate Recovery at on Monday nights.  Dinner is served at 6 p.m. ($3 for adults, $1 children). The large group meets in Chapel at 6:30 p.m., small groups meet at 7:30 p.m. 

Small groups are available for obsessive compulsive disorders, alcohol addictions, adult children of alcoholics, sexual addictions, chemical dependency, survivors of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, eating disorders, depression, unforgiveness, freedom from anger, co-dependency, dealing with past/present guilt and shame.

 

TUESDAY, JULY 12

Visit the library in building "A" and let your preschoolers and lower elementary grade children enjoy stories and crafts. This special storytime takes place from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

 

Al-Anon offers hope and help to families and friends of alcoholics. The group also includes Alateen for younger members. Participants whose lives have been affected by the alcohol problems of others can find solutions and support. The group meets each Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Modular A-1.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 13

Join the women of NewBranch in their Wednesday evening bible study on the book of Mark. This group meets each Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. New women are welcome anytime. Contact the ministry for more information.


Join this Bible Study group and learn to better understand what the Bible is telling us. This group is meeting at from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in Modular A-1. This group will meet on Wednesdays from June 8 until July 20.

 

Are you currently caring for an elderly parent? This group offers support and solutions for those facing the issues associated with caring for an aging parent. The group meets each Wednesday from 6:45-8:15 p.m. at in modular room A-3.

 

Join the children of at 7 p.m. for games, songs, Bible lessons and small group sessions.

 

Visit on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. and take an in-depth look into the Bible.

 

Join members of on Wednesdays from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. for a bible study. This week's lesson will come from Chapter 9 of Ezekiel.

 

Join the prayer group at from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. each Wednesday. The group meets in the parlor of the church.

 

THURSDAY, JULY 14

Join the fun at Throwback Thursday's hosted in July by . These special days are for rising kindergarteners through fifth graders and are being held each Thursday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. This Thursday bring your bike or scooter and protective gear and take part in a bike/scooter rodeo. 


FRIDAY, JULY 15

The Narcotics Anonymous group meets on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Modular A-2/4.  This is a group for men and women and there are no fees to join or attend.  Membership in NA is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used.

 

Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church hosts an Alcoholics Anonymous group meeting each Friday at 8 p.m. in Modular A-5.  This is a group is open to both men and women and there are no fees to join or attend.

 

Join the men of Christ the King Baptist Church each Friday morning at 6 a.m. as they come together and pray for the church, families, the community and the country. Group meets in Founder's Hall.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 16

Join the women ofin this summer refresher event. This event will provide women with much needed fellowship, a great lunch and inspiration from a guest speaker. All are invited to attend. The cost is $10 and the day will start at 9:15 a.m. and conclude around 1:30 p.m. More details are available by contacting Harvey Mann via email at harvey.mann@hmumc.org.

 

SUNDAY, JULY 17

RSVP to attend a Kindergarten First Look at . This time is for those interested in learning the goals, teachings and more about the Children's Ministry at Hebron Baptist Church. Meet in Gym A for pizza and then take a tour of the Children's facilities. This event will start after morning worship at 12:30 p.m.
