Church News: Memorial Day Cookout Today, Pancake Breakfast Tomorrow

A look at events scheduled during the upcoming week for churches in and around Dacula.

  • Memorial Day Cookout

The Dacula Church of God will host a Memorial Day cookout immediately following the morning service. Visit the church website for details.

For those who have suffered a recent loss, grief share group offers support. The group meets on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. in modular room A-1.

This support group for cancer patients or family members meets in Modular A3 of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church for prayer and support. The group meets at 6 p.m.

  • Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast

is hosting an all you can eat pancake and sausage breakfast on Memorial Day from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. The proceeds go to the Dacula UMC missions team. Enjoy a delicious breakfast and then walk down to the corner to watch the .

Are you dealing with life's habit, hurts or hang ups?  Join Celebrate Recovery at on Monday nights.  Dinner is served at 6 p.m. ($3 for adults, $1 children). The large group meets in Chapel at 6:30 p.m., small groups meet at 7:30 p.m. 

Small groups are available for obessive compulsive disorders, alcohol addictions, adult children of alcoholics, sexual addictions, chemical dependency, survivors of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, eating disorders, depression, unforgiveness, freedom from anger, co-dependency, dealing with past/present guilt and shame.

Teens may choose to attend "The Landing" a teen version of Celebrate Recovery. "Precovery Group" is for elementary age children whose families are going through crisis. "Hope- Helping Other Parents Endure" is a group for parents who are dealing with problems with teenage or adult children.

Tuesday, May 31

  • Al-Anon

Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church Al-Anon offers hope and help to families and friends of alcoholics. The group also includes Alateen for younger members. Participants whose lives have been affected by the alcohol problems of others can find solutions and support. The group meets each Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Modular A-1. 

  • Hog Mountain Baptist Church Choir Sings at New Canaan

The Adult and Youth Choirs have been invited to sing at New Canaan Baptist Church. Times and further details are to be announced.

Wednesday, June 1

  • Sewing Circle

The Episcopal Church of St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany hosts a ladies sewing circle each Wednesday in the parish hall. The sewing circle makes baptism quilts, prayer quilts and other items for parish members. The sewing circle meets from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

  • Single Mom Support Group

This group meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6:45 p.m. in Modular A Room 6 at Hebron Baptist Church. Childcare is provided.

  • Morning Bible Study

The Episcopal Church of St. Mary and St. Martha of Bethany hosts a morning Bible study each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

  • Kids4Truth Meets

Kids4Truth meets on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. at . In the Kids4Truth program, children enjoy games, songs, Bible lessons and small group discipleship sessions. For more information, visit kids4truth.com.

  • Wednesday Night Bible Study

hosts a weekly Bible study on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

  • Abundant Living Crusade at Christ the King Baptist

Visit on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. for a weekly opportunity for an in-depth experience with the Bible.

  • New Life After Divorce

This support group meets on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church. For more information, click here.

  • Parenting Your Parent

Are you currently caring for an elderly parent? This group offers support and solutions for those facing the issues associated with caring for an aging parent. The group meets each Wednesday from 6:45-8:15 p.m. at in modular room A-3.

Friday, June 3

  • Weekly Prayer Meeting

Visit at 6 a.m. each Friday morning for Men in Prayer. The group meets in Fellowship Hall.

  • Narcotics Anonymous

The Narcotics Anonymous group meets on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Modular A-2/4.  This is a group for men and women and there are no fees to join or attend.  Membership in NA is open to all drug addicts, regardless of the particular drug or combination of drugs used.

  • Alcoholics Anonymous

Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church hosts an Alcoholics Anonymous group meeting each Friday at 8 p.m. in Modular A-5.  This is a group is open to both men and women and there are no fees to join or attend.
