College Football, Butterflies and Movies in Dacula

A quick look at what's up this weekend in our hometown of Dacula.

Stop in at for live music on Friday, Sept. 2 where Vanessa Deliz will be performing. Deliz is the cousin to former American Idol contestant and finalist David Archuleta. Live entertainment begins at 7 p.m.

Are you ready for some football? Here’s a great way to get the whole family excited. Take your children age’s five to 12 to the free Kids Workshop this Saturday, Sept. 3 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Children will build a take home ESPN college game day dry-erase board. Now the little ones can draw plays on their new board while you enjoy watching the games.

Don't miss Super Saturday at the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center in Buford. Today is all about butterflies and guests of the center will learn about pollination and how we can help the butterflies in our own backyards. Special programming will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and participants will have opportunities to explore the inside of a flower, make a caterpillar and plant milkweed. The cost of this event is included in regular Center admission. GEHC members are free.

Head to on Saturday, Sept. 3 and watch the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game on the big screens as UGA takes on Boise State in NCAA college football action. Game time is 8 p.m.

Looking for a movie? Shark Night hits the theatres on Friday, Sept. 2 and will be showing in 3D at the this weekend. This movie is rated PG-13, so if you have little ones this might not be one for you.
