DAR Presents 9/11 ‘We Remember’ Flag

Flag will be flown at the Gwinnett Justice and Administrative Center.

The Philadelphia Winn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) presented a 9/11 “We Remember” flag to the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and the citizens of Gwinnett on Aug. 23.

The flag contains three images, each representing locations of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The left side of the flag depicts the World Trade Center in New York. A total of 2,753 were killed at the WTC site including the passengers of the two hijacked planes -- American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175. The top right side of the flag bears an image of the Liberty Bell to represent Shanksville, Pa., the site where United Flight 93 crashed after being hijacked by terrorists killing all 44 people onboard. United Flight 93 was the only hijacked plane not to reach its destination due to the heroic actions of the passengers on board. The bottom right side of the flag depicts the Pentagon where terrorists crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the building. All 64 people on the plane, including the hijackers, were killed as were 125 people in the building.

According to Philadelphia Winn Chapter of Lawrenceville DAR public relations chairwoman Debbie Houston, the flag was presented in memory of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks.
