Daylight Saving Time 2012 Ends

Did you remember to set your clocks back?

Daylight saving time 2012 ended at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. If you haven't already, you need to set your clocks back one hour.

According to the United State Census Bureau, time zones around the world were set by delegates from 25 nations at a Washington, D.C. conference in 1884. In the United States, Charles Dowd had proposed four time zones the year prior to standardize chaotic railroad tables.

Until 2005, daylight saving time began on the first Sunday in April and ended on the last Sunday in October. With the passage of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, daylight saving time was extended by a total of four weeks.  The start date was moved to the second Sunday in March and the end date was shifted to the first Sunday in November.
