December Thieves, Rodent Droppings and Easy Christmas Crafts

A look at a few of the most notable stories this week on Dacula Patch.

Holiday Crime Alert: Watch out for December Thieves

This week, a Dacula Patch reader made excellent use of the site by posting a note to let the community know about some recent criminal activity. Thanks again to Chris Johnson for taking the time to remind us of the need to take steps to prevent similar crimes at our own homes.

Rodent Droppings Found at Dacula Restaurant

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I always read the entire health inspection reports (the links are always posted in the restaurant inspection articles). Sometimes the scores are not indicative of the violations, as was the case this past week. Any time you’d like to look at the most recent health inspection scores posted on Dacula Patch, just go to the “news” tab and look for the link to restaurant inspections. You can also click here and bookmark the restaurant inspections page in your browser.

Liquor Store Licensee Application Packets to Be Available Jan. 7

If you are interested in becoming the sole liquor store licensee in Dacula, you can pick up an application packet beginning Jan. 7. The deadline to submit the application and supporting documents is Jan. 22. The applications will be scored using criteria established by the Dacula City Council. As City Administrator Jim Osborn explained at last week's work session, "It's like golf -- lowest score wins."

Seriously folks. I feel as if I have written this story hundreds of times. I did feel a little bit better when I realized the victims were from Hoschton and Auburn -- maybe they don’t read Dacula Patch. I’d be really disappointed to learn any Dacula Patch readers had failed to secure their valuables after all the stories we’ve had on these type of crimes. Let’s all do what we can to make things harder on the thieves.

I know the children have only been out of school for a few days, but youngsters tend to get bored easily. Combine that boredom with the nearly unbearable excitement of Christmas and you might really need something to keep your children occupied for a bit. If so, check out these easy Christmas crafts and enjoy a bit of holiday fun.

Last, but certainly not least, Merry Christmas Dacula!
