The upcoming “Evening of Excellence” is a special gala dinner followed by both a live and silent auction. Proceeds from this event will fund grants proposed by teachers in the above listed schools therefore supporting excellence in education throughout the Mill Creek School Cluster.

“The purpose of this event is to raise funds for the MCCEF, but we hope that participants will also have fun as they have the chance to meet and socialize with other parents, educators, community leaders and business leaders," wrote Foundation President Wendell S. Agee in a letter announcing the event. "Because of all the work done by the various support groups within our schools, it is our hope that this event will provide an opportunity for new relationships and support between the groups.”

Each year, teachers within the Mill Creek Cluster apply for grants through the Foundation. Grants are then awarded to teachers and projects that “best address the academic needs of the schools and students within the cluster.”  This year these grants will be awarded at a special recognition ceremony for teachers and students. The “Second Annual Mill Creek Cluster Community Breakfast” hosted by l is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17.  Businesses and individuals who have supported the Foundation will also be honored at this breakfast. According to the MCCEF, grants in previous years have been awarded to projects such as the Summer Math Institute, Forensic Science Club, Robotics Club, Exploring Ecology Project, Student Mentor Program and the Student Leadership Program.

Individual tickets to this evening may be purchased for $50 each and table sponsorships are also available for a cost of $400 for a table seating eight. Table sponsors are recognized in the event brochure and on the Foundation web-site as a partner in education.

"There are people in all levels of government office who would like nothing more than to beRead More able to conduct all the public business out of public view" The problem is, who's going to stop them? Certainly--no one from this justice department who is complicit in multiple overreaches and coverups.

I wrote this on another post but it so applies here and is worth repeating: James Madison wrote inRead More the federalist paper (no. 51) concerning the separation of powers and need for limited government , "“ It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government……” We need to have a "Madison moment"...
