Fire Danger Today, Storms Tonight

Severe weather expected this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a fire danger statement for north and central Georgia today. Hazardous conditions are expected from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Today’s Daculaweather.com forecast calls for winds out of southwest between 5-25 m.p.h. with gusts up to 25 m.p.h. The high today will be near 80 degrees. Relative humidities are expected to stay above 25 percent. The windy and dry conditions will combine to produce high fire danger conditions. The NWS advises residents to consult local burn permitting authorities prior to burning. Anyone doing any outside burning should use extreme caution.

Rain will move into the area later today with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are likely with a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are possible. According to the National Weather Service, the primary hazards from tonight's storms will be strong, gusty winds, large hail and frequent lightning. An isolated tornado is possible with severe storms most likely in the early evening to overnight hours.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue early tomorrow morning before tapering off by mid-afternoon. Highs tomorrow will be near 60.
