Go Green This Halloween at GEHC

Don't miss the "green" costume swap and pumpkin carving contest.

Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center (GEHC) will host two environmentally friendly Halloween events during the month of October. The first "green" event is a costume swap and the second is a pumpkin-carving contest.

, area residents can drop off old costumes, masks and other accessory donations in the GEHC lobby between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. This costume swap event will continue on Saturdays throughout the month of October between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. until Halloween. The public is invited to donate, swap or grab a "new-to-you" costume to enjoy.

In addition to the costume swap, GEHC will also host a green pumpkin-carving contest. This event takes place on Oct. 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. as part of the "Creatures of the Night" festival. Individuals interested in participating in the contest can carve a pumpkin with a green theme and have it displayed in the Enchanted Pumpkin Walk. All pumpkin entries will be lined along a path, lit with LED lights and then judged by staff from the GEHC. Prizes will be awarded by the center and one pumpkin will receive the "People’s Choice" award voted on by participants of the "Creatures of the Night" festival hike.
