Movie: The Green Lantern
Ryan Reynolds squeezes into a green skin tight unitard and joins an intergalactic fraternity to save the universe in "Green Lantern". Reynolds plays Hal, a rebellious test pilot who reluctantly becomes a superhero after getting a special ring from a dying alien.
After joining the green-team he battles issues concerning the death of his father, the lack of a mother, and the evil force called "Parallax." No, Parallax isn't something you take for constipation, its something that floats across the universe gobbling up anything that gets in its way, in 3D.

Peter Sarsgaard plays Hector, a nerdy scientist who gets "Parallaxed"and Blake Lively is Carol, the Green Lantern's former girlfriend and possible love interest again.
Reynolds struggles to carry this film that is more of a setup film for greater things to come down the road. I have personally spoken to Reynolds several times, he's a nice guy, very charming, and a good actor but as the Green Lantern? Here he is really nothing more than a dimpled smile and a green ab chiseled torso. The whole back story about the interstellar corps of peace-keepers drags the movie down. Ok, he is the newest member of the green team, we get it. It needed more action and a little less of the green-team history lesson.

The flick-o-meter has tallied the pros and cons and gives The Green Lantern a dim two out of five. Another superhero franchise is off the ground with this film but just barely. I'm a fan of the Green Lantern comic book series, but not of this film. The movies should have been called the Jade Lantern simply because you will feel so jaded after the movie. Let's hope the ring will find the way to better things down the road. So now you know before you go, please check out the video review on this page.
After the Movie: Waffle House
Sure, there may not be much green stuff on the menu at , but who cares? Cap off your evening with a little culinary action and adventure starring Bert’s best bowl of chili, a side of hashbrowns smothered, covered and peppered and a piece of Southern pecan pie for dessert.
