GRTA Xpress Commuter Routes to Begin Mid-Summer

Buses will travel from two Dacula area locations to downtown.

The Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) has released additional details regarding upcoming commuter bus service from two Dacula area locations.

Beginning mid-summer, area commuters will be able to travel downtown from the new or from the . Commuters using the Hamilton Mill lot will also have the option of traveling to midtown.

Two routes will leave from the Hamilton Mill lot, which is located at 3220 Sardis Church Road next to Walmart. Route 413 to downtown will have six morning departure times and a total of seven afternoon and evening departure times. Route 411 to midtown, which currently begins at the Mall of Georgia, will start at the Hamilton Mill lot and include a stop at the Mall of Georgia.

The 900-space Hamilton Mill lot is currently under construction and is expected to open in mid-July.

Commuters using the Hebron lot, located at 202 Hebron Church Road adjacent to Hebron Baptist Church, will be able to take route 416 to downtown. The route will offer five morning departure times and six return trips.

The Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) is leasing 400 parking spaces from . The leased spaces will be in the lot bordered by Hebron Church Road, Dacula Road and Fence Road. GRTA will pay $10 per space per month. The authority plans to make some minor improvements to the lot including sidewalk work, a handicap accessible ramp and minor modifications to the existing shelter.

Both park and ride facilities are part of the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Congestion Reduction Demonstration program. The $147 million Congestion Reduction Demonstration program, or CRD, is a pilot program funded with a $110 million federal grant and $37 million in state matching funds. As part of the program, the and transit service will be expanded.

Will there ever be a bus that stops at Century Center. There are alot of people that work in several building in Century Center that use 85 South every day.

Hi Sara - I am working on a follow up story for later today with some additional details. They have not released specific stops yet, but said the bus will stop downtown at several major employers.
