Heavy Rains Expected Tomorrow

Flood watch in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for portions of North Georgia beginning tomorrow morning and extending through Thursday afternoon. Showers and a few thunderstorms could produce as much as three inches of rain across the watch area.

Heavy to moderate rainfall is expected to move into the northwestern part of the state early Wednesday morning. Rainfall totals will average between two and three inches with higher amounts possible in some areas.

The NWS advises that considerable runoff into area creeks and rivers is possible due to saturated soil conditions from recent rains. According to the NWS, several creeks in the watch area are in minor flood stage or at full levels. Many of these creeks and streams are expected to reach or exceed flood stage Wednesday through early Thursday.
