Liquor Store Location Controversy, 20th Annual Memorial Day Parade and 1-Star Ratings

A look at a few of the most notable stories this week on Dacula Patch.

Three Submit Applications to Become Dacula's First Liquor Store Licensee

This past week we learned which parties are interested in securing the license to operate a package store within the Dacula city limits. We also learned where the applicants intend to locate their stores. While one of the locations seems to be generally acceptable to those who commented on the story, there appears to be a good bit of concern about the other two proposed sites. The location, however, is just one aspect of what the Dacula City Council must consider when deciding who should be the licensee. If you are interested in hearing from all the applicants and learning more about how they plan to operate their business, make plans to attend the presentations on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. at Dacula City Hall.

In more good news, Mill Creek High School senior football player Patrick Dike was awarded the seventh annual Win for Wyn scholarship. Thanks to Stephanie Scott, Win for Wyn co-founder, for sharing this wonderful news and congratulations to Patrick on such a great honor!

Thanks also to all the Dacula Patch readers who have shared their opinions of local businesses. There was one review last week that I found particularly useful and several others with which I completely agreed. If you want to let the community know about a great local business or perhaps warn others about a not-so-great experience, visit the Dacula Patch directory and post a review.

Friends Sports Grill to Open New Location in Suwanee

Congratulations to the fine folks at Friends Sports Grill on their expansion plans. In addition to their Dacula location, Ray and Suzanne also operate a restaurant in Dawsonville and will soon be adding a new Friends location in Suwanee. I’m sure the Suwanee folks will enjoy Friends as much as those of us in Dacula do. Good luck!
