Men Accused of Trafficking Nearly 30 Pounds of Cocaine - Marietta Patch

Three men were arrested Wednesday after Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna agents found nearly 30 pounds of cocaine and a stolen gun at their home.

According to a Cobb County criminal warrant, agents conducted a "knock and talk" at a residence in the 1700 block of Merry Oak Road at 1 a.m. April 10.

"Upon executing the search warrant," an official wrote in the warrant, "approximately 13,526.136 grams of cocaine was located within the residence."

According to Major Robert Willard, commander with MCS, the street value is $1,352,613.60.

- East Atlanta Patch

Atlanta police and a number of federal and state agencies are investigating an explosion at 1599 Memorial Drive that sent a man to the hospital.

The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. at the Veteran's Thrift Shop, APD Sgt. Greg Lyon said.

The man was injured while opening a package, which led to the stretch of Moreland Avenue between Moreland Avenue and Maynard Terrace being closed to motor vehicle traffic for several hours.

CID Director Chases Down Teen Thief - Buckhead Patch

People often wonder what they'd do if they came face to face with a thief who wanted to take something of theirs. Would they hand it over? Would they chase them down?

Jim Durrett, 56-year-old executive director of the Buckhead Community Improvement District and an avid cyclist, found out on Saturday just before noon while waiting for his wife at the Lindbergh MARTA station in Buckhead. They were going to meet his brother-in-law at Taco Mac for lunch.

According to media reports, Durrett was reading an email on his phone when a 16-year-old boy snatched the iPhone out of Durrett's hand and took off running down the street.

Councilwoman's Car Stolen out of Driveway - East Atlanta Patch

Atlanta police are looking for at least two people wanted in connetion with the theft of a car belong to Atlanta City Councilwoman Carla Smith Tuesday morning from the driveway of her Woodland Hills home.

Smith told police she was doing chores around the house when she heard a vehicle start-up.

A few moments later, she went to check on her 1996 gold Ford Taurus and found it missing from the driveway of the home in the 1000 block of Woodland Avenue.
