Propeller Airports CEO: Don’t Put Cart Before the Horse

Brett Smith calls Roswell man’s concerns about air and ground traffic premature.

A Roswell man has asked the Roswell City Council to reach out to the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners regarding the potential privatization of Briscoe Field.

According to a WSB Radio story, Creed Crutchfield is concerned about the impact the privatization of Briscoe Field could have on air and ground traffic in his community.

called Crutchfield’s concerns premature and said, "Since no plan is out there, I would ask everybody to hold judgment because this is putting the cart before the horse at this point.” (see the WSB-TV interview here).

Last month, Smith made headlines locally when he issued a press release in anticipation of Gwinnett County leadership moving forward with the controversial . In early August, the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners from firms interested in privatizing the airport.

The announcement led one Dacula Patch reader to comment, “The press release referred to is WAY out of order in the total process. Ever heard the phrase "gettin' the cart before the horse?" which asked, “Is the Propeller announcement a well-intentioned act directed at advising people of the company’s intent to hire locally or is it a case of putting the cart before the horse?” In the non-scientific poll, 85 percent of votes cast were in agreement with the statement: “Propeller is putting the cart before the horse.”

On Sept. 20, the with the firm hired to make recommendations on how the county should proceed with the potential privatization and/or commercialization of Briscoe Field.

Yeah...this is a classic example of the "pot calling the kettle black"!! Mr. Smith definately put the cart before the proverbial horse by soliciting resumes before RFPs have even been submitted, let alone selected....By the way, the Q and A on Sept. 20th at the Justice Center is a PUBLIC meeting. Be there at 11:00 to hear questions from Howard, Lasseter, and Beaudreau! Second floor...see you there!

On one hand, Propeller is actively seeking job applications and on the other hand is saying nothing is definite when even people in Roswell are beginning to protest the increase in air and street traffic this privatization will bring. It seems to me that the arrogance of Propeller knows no bounds or as we who will be forced to endure this debacle are beginning to realize... this is already a "done deal" under the table by our commissioners and representatives that have no personal stake such as home devaluation, noise and air pollution and general loss of standard of living caused by proximity to Briscoe Field. We have shouted "NO" at the meetings and were told there was an overwhelming acceptance of the idea of privatization. Are these people on the same planet as the people who are trying to make their protests heard? It is becoming painfully obvious that money is greasing the wheels of this project and it will be forced upon all of us for the gain of a few. We are about to have another Gwinnett Braves Stadium type project stuffed down our throats with the lure of future monetary wealth. Well, the stadium has not produced great profits, and looks like the same few are going to profit again with the surrounding citizens taking the brunt of the cost and loss of their standard of living. The people that are forcing this upon us have no personal stake in this project, they just stand to benefit monetarily. We are being lied to while things move forward quietly.

A classic example of opening one's mouth to change feet. What was that earlier article in the Dacula Patch about "putting the cart before the horse?" Wasn't it something about taking job applications for jobs that didn't exist? Wouldn't that be considered "putting the cart before the horse?" Please make every effort to be at the Gwinnett County Justice & Administration Center Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at 11:00 PM at the Board of Commissioners conference room located on the 2nd. floor. Please bring as many "guests" as you can in order to pack the conference room out and give cause to moving the meeting to an area that is more conducive for the public to hear the exchange between the BOC and IMG.

R, Thank you for the correction. Here lately between the two prospective taxpayer boondoggles known as the privatization of Briscoe Field with a commercial airline(s) option and TSPLOST, I sometimes don't know whether its AM or PM on my body clock as I spend an inordinate amount of hours on both in an attempt to eduacte folks to oppose Briscoe with a commercial airline(s) option and vote an emphatic NO on TSPLOST. Trust I will see you Tuesday AM.

AND DON'T FORGET THE SEPT. 27TH BOARD OF COMMISSION MEETING AT 7PM IN THE AUDITORIUM OF THE GWINNETT JUSTICE CENTER!! WEAR RED TO SHOW YOUR OPPOSITION TO COMMERCIALIZATION! THE AIRPORT ISSUE MAY NOT BE ON THE AGENDA, BUT IT'S TIME FOR A "SHOW OF FORCE" TO REMIND OUR THREE COMMISSIONERS THAT WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY ANY TIME SOON!

"There are people in all levels of government office who would like nothing more than to beRead More able to conduct all the public business out of public view" The problem is, who's going to stop them? Certainly--no one from this justice department who is complicit in multiple overreaches and coverups.

I wrote this on another post but it so applies here and is worth repeating: James Madison wrote inRead More the federalist paper (no. 51) concerning the separation of powers and need for limited government , "“ It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government……” We need to have a "Madison moment"...
