Restaurant Raises Money to Help Family Devastated by Fatal Fire

Friends Sport Bar and Grill collected $1,100 during mid-summer bash fundraiser.

A local restaurant raised over a thousand dollars this past weekend to help the .

During its first ever mid-summer bash on Saturday, July 16, raised approximately $1,100 to help the Cash family. In addition to monetary support, participants donated clothes and other items for family members. Donations to the " Memorial Fund" are still being accepted at Gwinnett Federal Credit Union Branches.

The mid-summer bash featured several events including live music and a wing-eating contest. Approximately 100 people were on hand to hear the debut of Pop Roxxx, a local band led by Travis Nolan. Prior to the musical performance, 10 contestants participated in a wing-eating contest. World eating champion Dale Boone consumed 54 wings in five minutes to take top prize in the contest. Dacula High School senior football player and Friends employee Ryan Malizia placed second with 42 wings. The youngest participant in the contest, 10-year-old Jared Zeiher, made a respectable showing scarfing down 17 wings in the allotted time.
