Man Who Shot at Police During Hour-long Chase Sentenced to Prison – Cartersville Patch

A Cedartown native pursued by authorities for more than an hour in a chase that ended in Cartersville received a hefty prison sentence Sept. 27 from U.S. District Judge Robert L. Vining, announced U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.

Johnnie Turner, 26, who also shot a .357 caliber pistol during the 2010 incident, had pleaded guilty in 2011 to illegally possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon.

Turner was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. He had been convicted of at least three prior felonies, including burglary and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

30 Car Break-ins Reported at Apartment Complex – Buckhead Patch

Atlanta police are looking for information regarding a string of car break-ins reported at a Buckhead apartment complex overnight last Wednesday.

According to police, a total of 30 cars were broken into at the Cambridge at Buckhead Apartments located at 3432 Piedmont Road.

Most of the car windows were smashed and portable GPS units and spare change was stolen.

Duluth Woman Charged in Midtown Atlanta Accident – Duluth Patch

A single-vehicle accident on the Brookwood Interchange ramp in Midtown Atlanta early Saturday morning resulted in one woman’s death and the driver being charged with DUI and homicide by vehicle.

Atlanta Police spokesman Carlos Campos said that around 5 a.m. a 2012 Toyota Corolla driven by Stephanie Jang, 20, of Duluth was traveling southbound on I-75 when it left the roadway attempting to enter I-85 northbound and struck an embankment.

Another Tech Fan Falls Over Bobby Dodd Railing – Midtown Patch

For the second time in as many Saturday afternoons, a Georgia Tech fan toppled over a Bobby Dodd Stadium railing during a Yellow Jacket football defeat.

According to WSB Channel 2, a Tech freshman fell 15 feet in the northwest bleacher section at Grant Field during Middle Tennessee State’s 49-28 win over Tech.
