The Great Outdoors: Family Fun, Bike Ride and Serious Competition

There are lots of outdoor activities this week right here in our hometown of Dacula. Check them out here.

Meet at on Thursday, June 2 and join the Gwinnett Touring Club Thursday evening ride. New riders of all levels are welcome to join. The ride will start at 6:45 p.m. and follows a low traffic route approximately 21.3 miles in length. The terrain for this particular route is described as moderate to strenuous with multiple cut-offs for early return.

is holding a “Putt for the Pantry” golf tournament to benefit the HMUMC food pantry on Friday, June 3. Breakfast will be provided by Chick-fil-a and a post-golf meal by the UM Men’s Club. This day of golf is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. at the . A $90 fee includes your golf, cart and food cost.

Are you planning on participating in the Jacob D. Bullock Foundation 5K Fun Run/Walk this Saturday, June 4 at ? This non-profit organization provides programs and opportunities to at-risk youth and was formed in memory of a local student after a tragic accident here in Dacula. On site registration will be available if you haven’t pre-registered already.  See you at the park.

Stop in at the Collins Hill Park and Aquatic Center on Saturday, June 4 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. for a family fun day. There will swimming, games, prizes and more for the whole family. You will need to wear a swimsuit and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Regular admission fees will be in effect.

Teams of three people are competing this weekend in the Siege Yargo Trailblazer Race. Teams will paddle, run, mountain bike and more through the park. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. This course is perfect for beginners and will present challenges for the more experienced teams. Basic navigational skills are necessary to complete the race. Head out to Fort Yargo and compete or just enjoy the fun.
