In this week's "Three Questions With the Mayor," Dacula Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks provides an update on the latest city news and discusses this weekend's split decision on whether or not we'll have an early spring.
Dacula Patch: What's new in Dacula this week?
Mayor Wilbanks: At the Dacula City Council Meeting this Thursday, the Council will be hearing the PEAK at University Parkway project annexation and rezoning case. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Dacula City Hall.
Dacula Patch: What is something Dacula residents need to know this week?
Mayor Wilbanks: We are almost ready to open the new maintenance facility. The new facility is located on Drowning Creek Road.
Dacula Patch: On the city website, you mentioned some of the curious facts about February, including the Groundhog's Day tradition. We had a split decision Saturday between Gen. Lee and Punxsutawney Phil. Which one do you think got it right?
Mayor Wilbanks: So THE groundhog saw his shadow, and the other unmentionable one didn’t. A split decision. Well, I wrote an imaginary interview with our celebrity groundhog, Gen. Beauregard Lee, on the City’s web site, where he was bemoaning being called a groundhog, so my money is on the fact that Gen. Beau Lee was pulling our leg. Spring is just around the corner. For us whose birthdate is in February, we expect some cold, blustery days ahead though. (Sounds like a split decision to me.)
