Tide Rolls Into Top Spot in AP Poll

Alabama's dominating win over Michigan moves the Crimson Tide into first.

The new Associated Press (AP) college football rankings are out and five of the top 10 slots in the poll belong to Southeastern Conference teams.

The , convincing AP voters to move the Tide past the University of Southern California Trojans who started their season on Saturday with a convincing win over ... Hawaii. So, the Tide rolls to No. 1 -- for the 47th time overall and the 16th under head coach Nick Saban.

LSU came in at No. 3 after their 41-14 win over North Texas. The Tide and Tigers -- also known as the SEC's evil twins -- have easy games ahead next week. Alabama hosts Western Kentucky and LSU will host Washington.

Georgia dropped one spot to No. 7 after their . Georgia will play new SEC member Missouri on the road next week.

Moving up in the poll to No. 8 is Arkansas, which kicked off their season with a 49-24 win over Jacksonville State. The Razorbacks have enough talent that by the end of the season, the SEC may have "evil triplets" instead of "evil twins."

South Carolina's 17-13 win over SEC opponent Vanderbilt was good enough to keep Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks at No. 9.
