Two Fatal Accidents, Big News at MCHS and Arbitration Settlement

One Dead As a Result of 316 Crash

A 68-year-old Dacula man lost his life in a tragic accident last week. Initial reports indicate Anvir Karim was traveling on Highway 316 when a tractor-trailer made a left turn across the highway onto Hurricane Trail Road in front of Karim's vehicle. Karim was unable to avoid striking the tractor-trailer and his vehicle was crushed underneath the trailer. He died later that day of injuries sustained in the crash. The truck driver has been charged with vehicular homicide. Not that any of us needed a reminder of how dangerous 316 can be, but this accident show how a morning commute can turn deadly in seconds.

Dacula Man Facing Charges in Fatal Accident

Another fatal accident last week resulted in charges being filed against a Dacula man. According to police, 42-year-old Kenneth Griffin is responsible for a chain reaction accident in Norcross that claimed the life of a motorcyclist. Please drive safely, wear your seatbelt and remain alert at all times when behind the wheel.

WATCH: Pride of Mill Creek Marching Band Receives Parade Invitation

Thursday was an exciting day at Mill Creek High School as the Pride of Mill Creek marching band received an invitation to perform in the 2014 London New Year’s Day Parade. The band will be among the thousands of performers in a parade that is televised around the world and seen by millions. Congratulations to band director Eric Mason and all of the band members for their outstanding work.

There has been surprisingly little discussion about the arbitration and annexation. I don’t really know why that is. It is a big deal. If all goes as planned, Dacula will become home to a massive live, work, play community that will have a significant impact on the community. This is the time to get involved in the process and make your voice heard, as this development will most definitely change Dacula -- hopefully for the better.
