Watch 2012 Venus Transit Live

Watch the once-in-a-liftetime celestial occurrence from NASA, beginning at 5:45 p.m.

Twice each century, a rare event takes place as Venus passes across the face of the sun.

Venus will be seen as a small dot gliding slowly across the face of the sun, the Transit of Venus website explains.

Viewers who miss the event will not have another chance to see the transit of Venus. The event will not take place again until December 2117.
